Your daily loss limit and your maximum loss limit are two separate risk controls, and your account must stay within both at all times. Breaching either one ends the challenge. This guide explains how each is measured, the exact limits for every model, and how to monitor them correctly.
The two limits at a glance
- Daily loss limit — the most your account can lose in a single trading day.
- Maximum loss limit — the lowest your account may fall across its entire life.
Both use static drawdown: they're measured from your starting balance and do not move up as you make profit.
Daily loss limit
- Caps how much you can lose in one trading day.
- Measured from your balance/equity at the start of that trading day (server time).
- Includes floating (open) losses, not just closed trades — plus commissions and swaps.
- Resets at the start of each new trading day.
If your equity falls by the daily percentage from the day's starting point, the account is breached.
Maximum loss limit
- The lowest your account may ever fall, measured across the whole account.
- Static — fixed from your initial starting balance and does not trail upward as you profit.
- Includes floating losses, because open positions change your equity in real time.
If your equity reaches the maximum loss floor at any moment, the account is breached.
The limits for each model
| Model | Daily loss | Maximum loss |
|---|---|---|
| 1-Step | 4% | 8% |
| 2-Step | 5% | 10% |
| Instant | 4% | 6% |
The Extra Drawdown add-on raises these limits by +2% daily and +3% maximum.
A quick example (2-Step, $100,000)
- Daily loss 5% = $5,000. If the day starts at $100,000, your equity must not fall below $95,000 that day.
- Maximum loss 10% = $10,000. Your equity must never fall below $90,000 at any time, no matter how much profit you've made.
Because open trades move your equity up and down, a large floating loss can breach a limit before you close the position.
How to monitor your limits
- Watch your equity, not just closed-trade history — floating losses count against both limits.
- Your dashboard shows live balance, equity, daily room and remaining drawdown.
- Leave a buffer; avoid trading right up to the line.
What happens if you breach
Exceeding either limit closes the account and ends the challenge. If you have the Reset Protection add-on, you're entitled to one free reset back to your starting conditions. Otherwise, you can start a new challenge from the checkout page.
Where to confirm your exact limit
Check the objectives panel in your portal and the rules for your specific challenge. If the figures shown ever look inconsistent with your account activity, open a support ticket with your account number.
